if you're breeding for the SOP. I wouldn't use him. He has yellow hackle feathers instead of copper and his legs are not feathered enough. I'm guessing he is still young?

Very young, 4 months. I only breed for fun, I have a young black and black cooper hen. Just wanted to see if he was a good looking future father. People always ask, and he has more feathers now on his feet.

If you're breeding for fun look at what characteristics you like from him. Maybe it's size, health, color, meat that's all up to you but would not recommend for the SOP

Ok... I posted this on the other Marans thread but it seems there are some here that don't follow the other thread. I hatched 100 chicks for a lady that keeps them for eggs and she raised all the roos too.... so I got to go and have my pick a few weeks ago. She was keeping my top picks but in hind site I think I made a good choice too. I will be going back in a month or so to see if there are anymore I can take home. She had them several different ages and these where from the oldest group. I will only show the blue roo... he is my TOP pick.

His tail was pick but she said it was a nice looking tail. The angle looks right but we will see in a few weeks.











Can't wait to pair him with this pullet. Maybe I can SET that copper she has in the next generation.
