Weirdly, though, I'd take in a "senior" rescue. There's something deeply satisfying about giving an oldster a soft place to live out their days. I've taken in a 16 yo cat before (Rest in Peace, sweet Harleykins) and currently have a rescue that the former owners swore was only four when they were evicted two years ago. She was every bit of ten. She's ornery, but we love her!

I love the size of them as well, but that lifespan is way too short. And same! I love the idea of taking the oldest dogs from shelters and just spoiling them for their last few months. I don’t want more than one dog long term, so I like that I still feel like I’d be helping but not a long term commitment. And those dogs have the hardest time getting adopted, so they need it the most. It’s a win win

I could easily be the dog version of a crazy cat lady and have like thirteen Aussies running circles around me. Today my mini was sitting with his little paws all crossed like a gentleman in front of the open yard gate, just sitting, gahhh😭😭😭😭
My first ever Aussie would've bolted straight through that gate and run down any old lady or frail child who got in her way, and I loved her too. I love anything from good to bad on the Aussie spectrum, they're perfect♥️View attachment 4309502

Also he recently learned how to parkour run up a fence and hop over it, he doesn't use his special powers for evil though, he just does it when the fam is working outside the fence and he needs to shadow in closer proximity 😂

Honestly I love aussies, they are just way way too small for my liking. Even dobies are too small for me, I’m just sacrificing that because their temperament is exactly what I want
