Well, iv'e brought a fine example of what they look like when they don't inherit blue to the table.

What color was the Ameraucana hen?

If she was blue, then the offspring had only a 50% chance of being blue

Lol, indeed she looks like a nice bird... and she does inform us a bit about what hides under the blue genetically speaking

She's a very nice bird, not like her mother that hen is a raging beech!
Looked closer and I fibbed a bit, her beard and all under fluff are blue.
Got to say she's a cool brown, blends in with dirt and leaves really well.
She's dumber than a box of rocks so im all.for Kiwi having some camo.

Thanks for the September update, @OhZark Biddies . Have your little pullets laid yet, or do you think they'll wait until spring? How pretty is this egg color?

Nope, so far no eggs from them... I’m expecting a greenish blue egg from them, but we’ll have to see.

A couple of the buff orp brood mates did start laying, but I’m kind of guessing that it’ll be spring before the two blue favs do.

Some updates... they’re growing into nice calm birds now... no eggs from the pullets, and now the days are cold and short so it will probably be spring

Started getting some eggs from one ( or both? ) of the favaucana pullets a couple of weeks ago

As expected they’re green...

particularly compared to the Ameracuanas more blue eggs, unfortunately I don’t have one of those to compare to right now

In this picture the darker eggs are from buff orps and the lighter browns are from salmon Faverolles
