My BLRW are great layers when they get going. 1 is in a HARD molt, the other ones.... IDK. I think they molted already. They all have pretty feathers anyway. 2 hens are with a Marans roo for some test mating, I don't think they like him.....

They will have to endure it for a little while. He need to be tested and they do too.

3 of my 4 pullets (8 months), lay 6 days a week,. They started a month and a half ago is my guess. Tiny eggs to start but sizing up nicely now.
Fertility was excellent, 8/9 fertile.

I'll load some more next month after done worming.

Good Morning All,
(please forgive my complete lack of knowledge about BLRW coloring....)

Got a BLRW question. I'm hoping to get a couple of these little beauties this spring. I have 2 SLW and love how funny they are - stocky little egg machines!
Correct me where I'm wrong, but as I understand it, the breeding for these is a little tricky in that it involves Blue/Black/Splash (somehow) and that chicks could turn out to be either mostly red with blue lacing or mostly white with red lacing or somewhere in between. ... that's not very clear.... I'll see if I can find some pictures.
Anyway - my question is: Is it possible to tell who will end up with which coloring? And how young can you tell?
I would like very much to get a couple of the 'mostly white w/ red lacing' which (I think) means there was a splash roo?????

Found these on google - LOVELY birds if they belong to any of you. (o:

Mostly in between:
