Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

That's what I'm thinking, mine don't look anything like anybody elses. So I had a look at the ebay listing I bought the eggs from and the sellers chicks look like mine. I don't know if the full grown birds are a perfect example of a splash BLRW but I hope mine turn out like theirs because I really like the look of the birds. It's going to be very interesting to see what my chicks turn out to be. So far we have lacing coming through on 3 of the chicks and they all seem to have the Wyandotte comb. I"ll keep this thread updated on what they grow in to.

make sure to save the pics of the parents in case they take them down, I know I did, that way I can look at them again when they're grown up :) I think your chicks are absolutely gorgeous!

My cat loves to watch "chick tv." She has never tried to get them out of the brooder box or incubator - but I don't trust her one bit. She hears them peeping and comes running.

That's a great idea about the pictures. I felt like posting a picture here of the adults but I'm not sure if that's ok to do or not. I especially don't want to hurt anybody's feelings if the seller is another BYCer. These chicks are so cute but man they are wild.

My cats are weird. They will kill everything they can get their hands on except for 'family' members. I've raised and sold guineas, turkeys and chicks and they've never bothered them. The cat in the picture loves the chicks when they're tiny but now that they're older he can't be bothered. The other cats are only interested in things they can catch and eat but for some reason they don't have any interested in the chicks who right in front of their eyes in an open brooder.

I'd love to see pics of the parents. My cats aren't game to touch chicks. In fact they literally " run the gauntlet " every time they enter the " kinder " area. Broody hens are tenacious.

Yesterday I was taking progress photos of my chicks (LOL) and I noticed that one of them has a VERY red comb!!! It's the BLRW with the Green legband. Their names are their colors because it's the only way I can keep them straight. I wasn't able to see it before, probably because of the red light in the brooder.

Another BLRW named DoublePink is also starting to look *slightly* pink in the comb, not as much a Green.

I suspected these 2 were both roos when I feather sexed them day 1, but later changed my mind on DoublePink to female. what do you think? :)

These combs look yellow, guessing females

their feathers are starting to look BLUE! :) and the lacing is beginning to come through. they are such beautiful birds, by far my favorite!

(btw - that's green - check those wattles! it's a BOY!!!)

I think your right about the green one. It's funny , but I find it easier to identify mine by looking at photos. Wyandotte are a lot easier to sex than my other breeds.

Anyone have any chicks for sale? I give up on incubating.
I was just discussing that on another thread... with so few girls laying, it would take forever to make a decent amount of eggs to ship, then for only a few to hatch, it may be more worth while to incubate everything and sell half grown chicks (4-6 weeks or older) I won't be selling day olds ever, but might have some down the road. if my ONE lf blrw girl ever starts laying again... my bantam girl is just a pullet but did take BV at the show last weekend.
