Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Hello all! I am new to BYC! After almost 3 years of bugging my husband I have finally convinced him to let me start a backyard flock of chickens .

I have done lots of research and have decided I want a flock of wyandottes (he’s only going to let me have around 6 birds total). This is my first time owning chickens. I’m not ready to buy yet but I do know I want to get BLRW and GLW chickens. Not sure on if I’ll get and keep a roo yet or not. I am trying to determine the best place to get BLRW chicks. I really want blues and not splash or black...can anyone point me in the best direction?

I realize I may have to get multiple chicks (more than what my husband will allow me to keep) and cull out the ones I don’t want to keep once they’ve grown and started showing their colors. I’m familiar with the different breeding options to get blues and have looked at a bunch of hatcheries online (Murray, cackle, purelypoultry). Any help is much appreciated as I’m not 100% sure on my best route to take, thank you!!!

Here’s my girly. We love her! :love

I have a blue laced red chick(or so I was told) it's about 10 weeks now (some pics from a bit earlier)so I think a pullet. But it's barely showing any lacing on feathers and only see grey on breast rest is red black.. will the pattern still change with age?

Doesn't even look like a Wyandotte to me, does it have a rose comb? Might be a cross breed but certainly not a BLR sorry. Still super cute though :)

I’m curious about people’s experience with cackle hatchery’s blue laced reds also . I Have 10 females and 5 males coming from them in a few weeks so I have good selection

Does anyone know if there’s a way to tell a blr chick from a splash? I have a place locally that breeds blrw and I am going to get some chicks from him when he has some hatches this spring however I’d really like blr and not splash or black. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Blue laced red chicks are darker
