My eye is immediately drawn to the tail on your blue pullet. It's coming in really nice.

Hey everyone. I’ve got 2 BLR hatchery grade ladies at 24 weeks and still not at the point of lay. What age do they start laying? All my other pullets have been laying for weeks (some months). One if them does look like she may be gearing up for it so hopefully not much longer now. The other still has a pretty pale comb.

Yay! She laid an egg today!!! I saw her on the nesting box so I ran out there when I heard the egg song and she had a nice egg in there for me. So my question still remains. Is this normal for BLR Wyandottes? Are they slower maturing? My other one still seems weeks away from being ready. They did have some trauma and injury to their combs about a month back so I’m trying to figure out if that delayed things or if the breed is just slower to mature.

Yes ma'am they are slow maturing and the damage probly also slowed her down. I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would chime in but i am sure of those two things. I am a NPIP BLRW breeder.

Soooo I ended up with a broody BLRW about 3 weeks ago and I decided to let her sit on a few eggs. I made a major rookie mistake though. I did not mark the eggs under her and I did not check under her every day. I had marked on my calendar 21 days and we ended up with 1 chick that hatched on the 19th at exactly 21 days from when I let her sit on eggs. Yesterday she actually got up and I counted the number of eggs still under her, there are 15!!!! I do not know when they were each laid and I don’t want to throw any away as I don’t know if they’re viable and she’s still sitting ...next issue is I brought the solo chick inside and placed him/her into my brooder in the house as I am not really set up for her to be outside with momma and momma is still broody. She/he is by himself and cries a lot. Also her/his poop is yellow which I don’t remember my other chicks pooping yellow. I have water and chick feed, heat lamp etc. same as when I bought chicks before earlier this year. She/he keeps getting this yellow poop dried on her fluff so I keep cleaning the little butt to prevent blockage...sooooo....Yea, any advice? She/he’s an EE x with a Wyndotte Roo...I’m assuming my GLW but It could be my BLRW

Are these two pullets or cockerel I think it's one of each but am unsure. One does have a single comb. They are 16 weeks or so. I dont see havkle feathers but I'm new to this. My easter egger who is 14 weeks already crow's and has blue hackle feathers coming and much more dominant then these ones.

Opinions on my Roo and hens please? I plan on breeding them this spring. I have 4 hens but only plan on breeding 2 of them with the roo. My splash is small and has a deformity on her breast so I won’t be breeding her and my other hen I’ll leave with the rest of my flock.
