Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Hi i was just wondering what the diffrent colors you can get from this breed?(splash, black...ect.). And also how to tell the colors apart. I have 20 eggs coming into the incubator tommorow so i just want to be ready.

Blue Black and Splash same as for all other blues.... well most. It will just depend on the parents colors as to the colors you will get.

It can be hard to tell the colors sometime. Blacks are really dark, blues are kinda med and splash will be the lightest chicks. All will be chipmunk striped.

What is going on with your bator now? What did you do?

I have a couple of Wyandottes that I need to sex and am hoping that someone familiar with the breed might be able to help, they are just shy of 3 weeks old. One is a little sweeter than the other, but they're both similar in size. They were a little surprised by the camera, so I'm not sure if their stances in the photos will be useful or not. Thank you in advance.

Not 100% but I think they are both blue pullets

Does the second chick have a tail similar to the first chick? Hard to tell fro the stance, if so I think 2 girls also. My little roo about 4 weeks now is just getting his tail feathers past the fluff, the girls are way ahead.

I threw it out. We're getting a cabinet bator, so I'm just down to a few Hobavator units for now. We had planned to make the leap to a better incubator...just not yet Only one peep made it, and it was the one that had not PIP'd, but I heard it chirping, so I opened the egg. All the ones that PIP'd or had already hatched-died.

What is going on with your bator now? What did you do?

Yes, actually they are difficult to tell apart. Their tails are the same length though the angle and stance of the chick in the second photo makes it impossible to see. I had a feeling from their behavior that they were pullets and figured that they were the same sex either way. I have not hatched BLR Wyandottes before and simply have no frame of reference. I want to be able to keep some of my chicks long enough for them to get to this point!
