with my dorkings, i got used to how my silver greys grew out, so when i got my chicks from sandhill preservation center, i was totally disappointed because they didn't shape up quite the same way. but the end result was much the same. the silver greys grew long and low body then filled in evenly, the sandhill birds grew tall and lanky, then lengthened the body and filled in. (unlike the upright stance of a wyandotte, dorkings are more 'barge-like' as one person put it...)
my point here being that some lines may develop differently than others, some feathering out faster or slower, etc.
