Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Pics
well, i can finally join this thread. 8)

had 4 lf chicks hatch (2 blue 2 black), and picked up a bantam pair (1 blue 1 black) yesterday from a swap.

not sure if i really want the bantams, but the price was good and couldn't pass them up. not sure if they'll be sq type or not, they're both a bit young. 4-5 months old. i'll try to get some pics later. but i like them. the pullet's got some shafting and some of the feathers are kind of smutty looking. i'm hoping that will fade with a moult.

ok, i tried reading from the beginning of the thread, but most pics and links are not working. tried reading backwards and got a headache. LOL

so i'll just ask my noob questions and see where to go from there.

I've got some blrw LF chicks that hatched out friday, and a new pair of bantam blrw (pic posted above).

what i'm wondering, is where can i find what the standard for wyandottes is, and at what age do they typically start laying? for LF and bantam both (same or different ages?)

could someone take a peek at the pic i posted and see if they look anywhere near SOP? i know blr isn't an accepted color, but as far as type is concerned? this is a new breed for me.

This is the BEST asset you can have for wyandottes... per an APA Judge... (there is also one for Rocks too) you can download the PDF and read it on the computer... or book reader thingies.

From thw pic I see your roo is actually a splash I think.. see the variation of blue in his lacing? And his tail shows black.. and the other is a black laced red.and thats good. Splash on black is 100 % blue.
Type is good, but the roos legs look small compared to him, but I dont know if its a point reducer. They look older then 5 months.. the red on them should be deeper.
And since both have brassy look, it will be hard to get rid of.
Lf i know takes around 18 months to mature, and around 8 months to lay. Not sure with bantams.
