I bought some fertilized eggs today and they are labeled as "Blue Splash". They are bantam eggs. I know that blue splash is a color, not a breed, but is there a breed that it might likely be because of just putting the label "Blue Splash"?

Thanks,

Karen & Tim

You will have a surprise it looks like because there are lots of bantam breeds that are Blue splash.

The eggs are white and they are bantam.

As far as the term blue splash, I am just getting into the color thing, so I'm not real sure of the difference, but my understanding is that blues are all over blue while blue splashes have blue in them as well as other colors. But don't quote me on it!

I breed Blue Orpingtons and I get blues and blacks and a splash from time to time which is basically a white bird with "accent" feathers. Here is one from my last bunch:

I have no idea what Blue Splash is, though. I always thought people were just using an incorrect term for a splash.

Blue splash is splash. Blue wheaten birds can also breed splash and they are referred to as splash wheaten.

I think it is added to be clear on the original color the bird came from.
