Blue vs. Self Blue Brahma

I don't think I have the right colors in my flock to have produced porcelain.

That chick is blue.
Self blue is recessive, while blue is incompletely dominant.
Disregarding this bird's faults, what color would you say?
Silkied? Lavender (self blue) with leakage
Is porcelain the same as Isobel?
No. Isabel is typically duckwing
Always? I've seen some birds referred to as porcelain that don't appear to have mottling, such as silkies. In this case I may have meant Isabel then, though.
The more correct term for "porcelain" Silkies is blue cream, because they have a modified isabel pattern but no mottling.

What does this mean exactly? Is it referring to his crappy feathers ? I was thinking that was the "tail shredder" gene perhaps? I only have pure brahma - no other breeds.
Sometimes I come across silkied Brahmas, but you're probably right. I've never seen quite as bad a case before though.

Well he certainly appears Silkie-feathered to me. Some pictures of him standing still in natural light up close with a nice focus should do the trick and let us for sure identify him. He reminds me of my Splash Cochin years ago that had leakage. But it's possible that he is a Lavender. What did you breed to produce him?

I will try to take a better photo - he is not excited about being photographed.

I have black and splash hens in with blue partridge and splash males.
