This is mostly for my own benefit; I couldn't find any information on this cross, so I went ahead and did it myself. I'll keep track of the progress of the chicks and we will see which ones are roos and which ones are pullets. Unfortunately I won't be able to repeat the experiment but maybe someone else can pick it up and we can all make pretty Easter eggers together~

They're all reddish yellow, with yellow legs. Squiggles up there is the only one with a distinct black line on her head, though.

See? No black mark. From what I've found on Google they look more wheatenish than red, but we will see how they feather out!

Week 2!

They're all fairly identical. Squiggles is the only one with any real identifying marks, and the runt who hatched 3 days after everyone else. They're still mostly "wheaten", rather than red, but considering my hens are some sort of RIR cross it's entirely possible there's more white/wheaten in their background I don't know about.

Just gotta say nail polish is on point!

Week 3!

So Squiggles is different in more ways than one; she's the only one with green legs! Her breast feathers are also growing in cream while the others are looking much more red. This week I took pictures of her and a sibling for comparison. The 1st and last picture is Squiggles, the middle 3 are a sibling. I should mention that at this point I have no idea which, if any, of my chicks are pullets, and probably won't until they hit about 8 or 9 weeks. For my own sake I'm calling them all girls until they tell me otherwise lol

Any updates? I'd love to see how your chicks are turning out!

I'm picking up a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana rooster in a couple of weeks. I plan on crossing him with my RIR, Salmon Faverolles, Speckled Sussex, and Easter Egger females to gradually start working my way towards a flock of speckled, fluffy faced Easter Eggers. I'm JUST starting this adventure but can't wait to see how things turnout!

Here’s my chicks! Wheaten Ameraucana x Golden sex link about 4 weeks old now. These are the pullets, I already got rid of the obvious cockerels. They looked just like these girls. A have a variety of colors too!
The little chick that’s the closest is a pure Wheaten Ameraucana pullet

Just wanted to say that I crossed an EE (he was 1/2 Blue Ameraucana) with a Speckled Sussex and the resulting cockerel was GORGEOUS.
