So this is my baby boy Romeo. He had a black amerucana sister (Juliet) she passed away. I bought him as a blue amerucana to breed with his sis for blue and black. But that went away. Before I splurged on another breeding he I wanted to make sure I got the right one. I’ve been wondering if he’s a blue wheatan instead of a blue with some leakage.

I know this seller is a good one because some her other trues (including his father) had placed really high in the show. He just seems to have a lot of leakage and the seller said I could breed it out over a few generations. His sister was a pure black amerucana.
He'd be 100% cull from any breeding program that included the standard of perfection.

At the cost of doing so.. you'd be better off to buy a bunch from the hatchery and raise those out.. breeding projects are NOT easy or fast or cheap.. just save yourself the energy, time, money.. and start with better stock.. which I've seen on several hatchery birds. Nobody in their right mind with any prior experience would spend that kinda time. No rudeness meant here.. only sheer sincerity. Even if you have to plan ahead for next season..

Very pretty ❤️

I definitely would not put him or any offspring of his in a show I am 100% serious about. The thing is he is the best manned bird I have ever had. I want to save getting a new and nice breeding roo for once I get my new coop. Right now my hope is to breed some Ameraucanas that people will buy but im definetly not breeding to the SOP with this guy.

So would you recomend not getting an ameraucana to breed with him and start off with my EEs and try breeding EEs and OEs?
That's what I would do. He'd be perfect for EEs or OEs-- you'd get some nice colors in the offspring. You could use him with pure Ameraucanas if you like, so long as you told people you may sell the chicks to that they're pet quality, not show quality. That is all up to you.

Ok. Could I theoretically breed it out over generations? And could I get a true blue ameraucana hen and breed BBS?
Probably, but it could take a few generations. I would make sure it has the white skin color Ameraucanas are supposed to have as well. You can do that by looking at the undersides of his feet. White or pinkish white indicates a white skinned fowl. Any signs of yellow in that area means you have a yellow skinned fowl, which is disqualification at poultry shows.
