I agree it may be to narrow, and it may have a little to much bounce to it. Try adding a 2x4 or something to it to stiffen it up.

cool...i have not locked them in because they don't want to leave yet. there are 4 in the garage that came out to look around the yard. they "were" living in a horse stall at night and roaming the yard in the day. all they had for nests were some milk crates. the boat has plenty of shelves and drawers and closets. i will have to look after dark tonight and see where they pick to roost.

I did turn the plank so it is parallel and close to the stern and supported by the boxes I have there. The big job here is training the dog not to chase them !!!

I would make a platform somewhere in the middle of the ramp, that is way to high and long a ramp I think, maybe if there was some kind of landing halfway up they might be more likely to use it

If the boat isn't seaworthy why not bust a hole in the hull and let them "come aboard" that way. You could cover the aft section with netting or wire, and contain them at night.
