Keep in mind folks that the south is usually not the place to find great waterfowl. Not saying they don't have them, because they do, but the west, midwest and northeast are usually the places to find the best waterfowl in larger numbers.

Holderread Waterfowl in Corvallis Or is an excellent place to buy quality waterfowl from young to adult.

Indeed, Holderread's stock, if one hasn't ordered from him, is really good. We've dealt with them a lot in the past. Their Pom's are excellent, and they are correct, with the traditional pink and the single lobe. They maintain three different lines.

Pom's are great; they're gorgeous, and Dave's Pom gosling are ridiculous cute. Be careful, though, when you check out his site; he gets all tangled up in playing with colors in non-Standard fowl. The difficulty is that so few people raise geese, let alone breed geese that it dilutes the efforts to maintain and progress with good stock.

Cool! I have 18 of those too I think they are as vigorous as little game type or bantam types I've hatched before and I just love watching them and their Mommas they act just like little chickens, LOL

Jeff

Yes they do!!

Jeff-
Glad to know you have some too...perhaps we can 'compare notes' as they grow out?!

Dave sold the last of his Pomeranian flock last year and he has not bred the Buffs in a few years. If I wanted just about anything else though, he would have been the first person I contacted. His birds are beautiful and he is a super nice person!

Yes Walt you are correct about the south and waterfowl. Their are a couple of serious duck breeders in my state, and a lady in Florida with excellent Sebestapol and Dewlap Toulouse geese. However, they are the exception, not the rule. All my incoming stock is coming from Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Just thought I would post some pics of my "Heritage Fowl" NH chicks hatched 2 days ago. They are from eggs shipped to me from Jeremy Woeppel (Jwhip)...a cross from a German line cock onto American line (Good Shepherd/Reese) hens. They are HUGE chicks and very vigorous...they immediately started to eat and drink on their own straight away in the brooder. I have also noticed how calm they are for chicks. I am very pleased thus far. I have 17 total. Very excited to see how this cross develops.

This is SO adorable. Nice picture, super chick, and great idea!

What a shame..... He had confided in me, when he was disbanding his Buffs and Pilgrims, that they just weren't selling enough, and people were too busy with fetish colors and putting Sebastapols in diapers. What a loss to the community!

i meant bread and butter...but i suppose peanut butter and jelly on bread too...geez, time for lunch here in AZ!

Hi,
Well, ya'll were right, smile. The three chicks are up and bouncing around the coop like little yellow ping pong balls, LOL.
So cute and March is a great Mom. Now what am I going to name them? smile. I can't call all three "February", VBG.
Thanks for your help!

I heard he got out of quite a few breeds over the past couple years.
