Only 5000? I better hurry up and order mine!

When will the pre-order start for the book?? Would it just be on the website, or do you have to know someone who knows a guy??

They took some pre-orders at the National show in Shawnee, OK. You also had to know someone who knew a gal.

Walt,
Thanks for the heads up.
Now are the ones that are being sent to Pat are they pre-sales or are they the ones that are going to be sold at the APA site?

Thanks,

Chris

Pat will have 5000 books for sale.

Walt

Thanks Walt,
I will be putting a order in.

Chris

Sounds like, per the website, February. (says ordering info. will be updated when the books are in stock.)

Our booth was near the APA booth at Shawnee. When I seen they were taking pre-orders for the SOP, I ran over and placed my order! You did have to know a certain lady to pre-order a copy. Seemed like Pat Hortsman was taking orders from everyone.

I know that this is the LF heritage thread but Mary Anne Harley was the breeder that changed my life. I bought out her old flock of Cream Light Brown Dutch. I had found her ad on Craigslist. I also bought a trio of bantam dominiques. A few months later I asked if I could get some of her criticaly endangered nankins and some more bantam dominiques. She said sure come out and get some. I came out and I asked which nankins could I get, she replied this whole pen of nankins and this pen of dominiques. They were all 3+/- month old pullets and cockerels. After i got home I counted my bantam haul, 25 dominiques and 63 total nankins! All for FREE! She is a fantastic Lady that has helped me imensly.

What a wonderful story: Its people like her that have a imput on you, but more than anything your soul.

They may get out of chickens ,they may die ,but you feel you have to keep thier line going and help promote the breed they gave you. You are doing it for them.

I remember when I was about 16 years old I was at a Nursing Home in Seattle Washington and Carl F. Hove was dieing in his bed a Master Breeder of Large Fowl. He told me Robert you can have any white rock I have for $5. I said Thank you Carl. I only had $20. in cash and $2. for gas to get home on. Gas was 32 cents a gallon back then and I had to get five gallons to get home. Then as I was saying good buy he grabed my hand and said Robert dont let my White Rocks Large Fowl die keep this line going. I got 50 years into this breed.

I started to cry and said good buy. He died two weeks latter. I kept the Stain of white Rocks till I was 19 years old but Vietnam got me to leave home. My dad did not keep his promise and he killed all my chickens within two months of leaving home.

Three years ago when I was asked to be the National Secetary of the Plymouth Rock Fanicers Club when it was in the toilet how could I not say no when they asked me to be Secetary.

I lost Carls strain but at least I could help promote the breed, the Club that he was a Hall of Fame member of and help others get started and help them breed for color with Plymouth Rocks.

Old timers who where born in 1890s like Carl F. Hove who helped so many people get started in Poultry have a effect on you like he did me. Thats why I push the Heritage old Breeds of Large Fowl like I do.

So one day you may be effected by some old timer with a rare Heritage breed and they will ask you to carry it on for them and it will get to your Soul.

May this happen to at least one of you in your life time. bob
