I already have LF Blue Cochins, so I don't want another feather-footed breed like the Dark Brahmas. What can anyone tell me about heritage Wyandotte's? I know they take cold, but are they good winter layers? Slow growing? I had some hatchery SLW last year that were given to me after Easter. I didn't like them -- sold them all at a fall swap. I know "real" Wyandotte's would be different.

The wyandottes I had were nonstop excellent birds, healthy and solid non stop layers. even through winter with no additional lighting, they were non stop layers.
Peaceful, healthy, big breasted birds, very good at free ranging and very upset if I did not let them out to go do so.
I really enjoyed them.
