Oh, and here is an excellent page for those asking the difference between the BRs and Dominiques...

http://www.dominiquechicken.com/Dominiques_and_Barred_Rocks.html

You can really see in the black and white photos the difference in the barring, and the shapes of the birds are two totally different directions. The Dominique is trimmer and angular, the BR has more of that ... what's the word I'm looking for... could it be a gravy dish?

shape.

God, every time I look at the standard photos I drool over that Dom hen.

I wish........

Why can't you? You're birds are beautiful.

Thanks all.....I've only found one APA sanctioned show closer than 4 or 5 hours from me and I just can't afford the money or the time away from our farm. I have them for my own enjoyment and not to make money off of so I really couldn't justify it. It would be fun to be able to go to the shows tho as a spectator if nothing else.....and to finally get to meet Rebecca.

Yes, that is going to be my problem too. There aren't any close and there is always more work to be done than time to do it.

And shows farther away than that--how do they keep the birds looking good? If you bring any more than a few you would have to have a very large vehicle and then the smell might do you in before you get there.

We could really use a few good APA sanctioned shows closer to home.
