Sorry, First time using this new photograph formatting process. The 2 previous photos are of the pair of LF Light Brahmas that I purchased a wk and a half ago. I wanted to show them on the forum and any feedback on them would be acceptable. They are young, hatched last Aug or Sept. This is the only pair that I have. I am thinking about purchasing a second pair from the breeder.

I am sharing a pic of my 2 LF White Wyandotte pullets. It is not the best picture, but it is what it is. I lost the cockerel that I was going to use for breeding at the first of the year. I had to put him down because of Mareks. I am working towards getting a replacement, but that will not be until next month. Hopefully I can shoot for some late spring chicks. These large whites seem to be so scarce, and far and few. If anyone would like to provide feedback, it is more than welcome and please feel free to do so.

Looks like very nice quality. You can always hit up Ron Patterson for a cockerel later this year for a White Wyandotte. He has about the best i know or seen

7961 Your Brahmas look very young however they look like they are of good quality from the color and the Asiatic look on the female. The male is still got so much to grow to tell what he will look like at ten months of age. What blood lines are your birds from? bob

In regards to white wyandottes they are very rare yet one of the best all around birds you could have. Years ago I had some when I lived in Wisconsin which came from old strain out of Ohio named wade Fullerton. Scott Adams from Nebraska had the last of them.. I sent a pair to Al E. in Idaho and he crossed them into his great strain about 25 years ago. Today they are very rare hope more people will try to start out with a simple breed and color be for they try to tackle the hard pretty colors that takes unbelievable skill to breed. If you dont think it is hard to breed these color patterns that is the reason its so hard to find any worthy of the breed.

Hope you get a male from the fellow that was suggested. He has the best. bob

Bob, I bought the Brahma's from Kim Aldrich. Re: the Wyandottes I got them at last November's Ohio National. 1 pullet came from Ron Patterson's son Jonathon. The other female is from Don Monke. I have been talking with both Don and Jonathon about getting additional males. I know I can get males from Jonathon this summer, so I will be good. I plan on 2 males so bases will be covered just in case. Bob I always enjoy reading your thoughts and insight. Thank you for the feedback lildinkem and Bob.

I have a point to ponder with you all. I have a line of Barred Hollands that look better in the show cage, but they lay brown eggs. Now since the whole point of these birds was to have a dual purpose barred WHITE egg layer, to me they are just poorly colored small barred rocks. I mean really, isn't it the white egg that makes them the barred holland? I feel like I'm cheating to put them in a show and call them barred Hollands. What say you?

Hmmm...my first thought is that someone crossed them out to a Barred Rock cock, which turned the eggs brown. You can't fix it without an outcross, which, of course, throws a lot into volley.

An outcross would have to be to a white egg layer, then type and color would be greatly affected. Even if she went with a quality? Barred Leghorn, type would be affected.

Jen had the Barred Hollands at Crossroads. Color and Type are doing well, but the egg color is as dark as my Orpington's eggs. Not all, but many.
