Chris those are some great charts and historic and easy to read. Do you all know who the inventor of the first chart is.??? What was his name, what did he breed, did write any books and what state did he live in. He is famous and would be fun to see who he is.

I made a trip yesterday to Matt 1616 home and saw some fantastic old fashion Mohawk E W Reese Mrs. Donaldson Reds. The kind I use to breed and I have not seen any little Mohawk reds in ten years. I will post the pictures on my web site picturetrail.com latter when I can get on the big computer. I also saw something I have not seen in 45 years. Real old fashion American New Hampshire’s the kind that Ken Bowles use to have and I saw in 1962. Color was right on the money as it’s the color Schilling painted in his last painting from what I can see at least five old time Judges out of six would love this color on these birds. They also have the ticking they are suppose to have on some of the females. The chicks should also improve by this fall. Will post the pictures latter when I can get on my box computer my wife is on it right now. Great Buff Orps I saw not as many but they came from great parents. Boy was it hot 98 degrees yesterday and the birds where feeling it. Bob

Will send link to my article latter. Got to use the big computer to do that. bob

If I knew you were looking for a chart I would have sent you one of these.

Bob,
There just some that I found over the years.
The first one is very similar to one that was post in a Rabbit Breeder Book I had. (the one in the book was Black and White)

Chris

Yes, I follow one almost exactly like that first one with my rabbits.

I actually like the second one a bit more though!

Um, new to this thread and its recent activity looks fairly serious and a bit intimidating. I am new to breeding but am trying to come to this with integrity. I have a desire to keep heritage and some unusual breeds for education. I would be willing to try breeding if I had a better idea what I was doing or the standards to look for so that I am not mucking things up. A lot seems to have to do with colors, then combs, tail angle... Where do I find standards published or drawn for me to go by?
I currently have at least one of the following breeds and acknowledge that not all are heritage:

Spangled Orloff
Mille Fleur D'Anvers
Ameraucana
Golden Lakenvelder
Breda
Polish
Houdan
BC Marans
Cream Legbar
EE
Welsummers

Hi,
I know, I know. Come to the thread looking for info and the 1st thing, someone tells you to buy a book. But really, I waited 2 yrs. to buy my copy. Wow! What a treasure trove of info! Esp. about breeding to type and what makes good type. You will have to search long and hard to find it all on the Net. I know, I did. and it was right here all the time. Plus, the new 2010 edition has a classic article on Speckled Sussex with info I have never seen anywhere else.
Marans are newly approved too. For more info on Marans, join the Maran of America Club. Every educational bent to this club.
Best,
karen in western PA, USA.
