Charlie I was on your data base web site and its really getting there. Loaded with information as breed clubs, shows, judges and their address and phone numbers. The nice thing about that is if you are a beginner and you live not to far from a judge listed you could contact them and they would know where the nearest breeder might be for the breed you are looking for.

So go to this site. I up dated my membership which is free and will try to place my birds in the right areas so Charlie will also have a idea on how many are live out there during the winter.

I saw a female in one of the pictures Charlie that is bricked up like crazy and will be a great breeder for next year. She is in the top picture close to the fence looking right at the camera. Great line of Rose Comb Reds. Thanks for posting the pictures.

This is a very cool site! Thanks for the URL! Fun to browse around and see who has what.
Thanks,
karen

Hi
A question for the seasoned show folk.
What do you think about showing your foundation birds? My trio will be here this month. Ik now they should be shown so folk can see the birds with which I am founding my flock. Least I think that's the way it goes. Does in dogs, at least. Bring out the foundation stock and showcase the parents for the next breeding season. But I'm leary of showing them because I am afraid they might get sick or something. Should I try? Or wait till next year and show their get?
Thanks,
Karen

thought you would enjoy this old 1940s -50s postcard..illustrates RIR then..the card is european..i copied a bunch of these cards one year, shrank them a bit , laminated them, made tree ornaments for a small thin artificial tree that we had in stair way..

and i do not know what this chicken is, but im sure some of you will.

.i found a blog about 2 years ago about a young man in europe desperatly trying to re-create a breed that was extinct after WW1.. he had to do a lot of research and find 2 very obscure breeds to do this and those were also near extinct, one was critical in numbers.he had to travel a very long way from home and could only hope that some might still exist..if memory serves me it was in russia remote region that he had to travel...it was a great story and he was a great story teller , it has been about 2 years since i followed the story, the page was bookmarked in my old computer, but that is gone, cant find it now..too bad , it would have been interesting to heritage breeders.
