The new SOP will not have a picture of the Barred either. No one has sponsored a pic yet. Use the shape of the white to see where you are with conformation.

Thank yop guys! I will order one in November

Dominique’s compared to Barred Plymouth Rocks
http://www.dominiquechicken.com/Dominiques_and_Barred_Rocks.html

Boy what a exciting page comparing the Dominique’s to the old Barred Rocks. For you who will go to this blue web address above look at the pictures of the two breeds. Compare them if they where to different breeds of cattle or dogs. Can you see the difference? I hope you who want to take on a very rare breed of Heritage Poultry will consider the Dominique’s. They deserve some attention by us to keep their numbers up and to keep them available to the beginner who would like a old time breed of poultry years from now.
As you have seen some very nice Barred Rock live pictures from Jeremy’s Frank Reese’s stock look at the Standard of Perfection black and white pictures by Art Schilling. Look at that gravy bowl type of this bird. Look at the barring in the picture.
Now ask yours self do I have the Real Barred Heritage Plymouth Rocks in my chicken yard or do I have just a black and white chicken imposing as a Barred Plymouth Rock ?
Thanks for posting this thread again. I hope it will open the eyes to the beginner when you think about trying to raise and keep these old time breeds. For our beloved Plymouth Rock Club we hope others will see what we are trying to preach. I told you I heard that Dominique’s have won Reserve Champion Americans at two good quality shows in the past month. This is unheard of and I can’t wait to see the pictures in the Poultry Press when they come out.

Next question for you. Did you get your Poultry Press in the mail yesterday? I did loaded with good articles and pictures of your favorite breed.

We had a little luck at Lucasville, OH this weekend winning BV Silver Laced Wyandotte and Best of Breed with a Silver Laced Wyandotte Hen.

Mrs. Turbo, she is lovely-congratulations!

Bob, thank you for that link- side by side really helps one to see the differences better. Most hatchery BR look more like poor examples Dominiques than they do BR- Lighter weight, more upright in the tail, muddy barring - the hatchery BR around here do anyway. The only way I could tell on some I saw here locally was by the comb-

That is my favorite link when someone mentions "Dominekers", a term I really can't stand when used to mean any barred bird, and wants to know the difference. I've posted it many times on BYC. Excellent comparison. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone came here and asked if my birds were "Domineckers". When I say they are Barred Plymouth Rocks, a completely different breed, they look at me like I've just spoken Swahili.

At least around here, I always figured that question meant that the old time bird in the mountains of WNC, which is pretty close to your area, Cyn, was the Dominique- my MIL asked if the hatchery BR I got from my neighbor was a Dom, as that is what she grew up with. She didn't know what a BR was, either.
