I am going to take 19 birds to the Lebanon IN Show this Sat.

yup....that would be the one. Not sure how many chickens we are taking, it is not fun washing them..... mostly call ducks to this show because there will be a ton of call ducks there and breeders and the call ducks just need a fresh pool of water to clean up, no soap buckets.

I am taking 27 birds to the Arkansas State Fair in the morning.

My wife is taking 2 turkeys.

Nicole is taking 2; Jacob is taking 6; Brenae is taking 3; and Danyelle is taking 2.

Total: 42 birds.

We will probably be there....have to meet up with you and see how your rooster does.

Ok, now that you count the kids too, i guess we are taking a few birds...LOL

daughter has 2 silkies, son has 9 waterfowl and 2 chickens....we have 8 chickens and 19 waterfowl....total 40. We scaled down this year.

I went to the Lebanon IN show last year. They have a great junior turn out. I think the 2nd largest Junior Show last year.
Washing birds isn't fun. It got worse yesterday when I discovered that two of my better cockerels, I had planned on taking, fought. And as usual that number 2 got beat up. Cut up wattle, scabbed up on his face , and scratches on the comb. He got bathed but will not be entered. So, I am entering an even younger buff cockerel in his place. Too young. But, that is part of life. And I paid my $3 and will ask the judge after which one he likes for breeding and showing. I am pretty sure his number one and two will be these two who fought. That is my luck. Other then scrubbing scabs, the others are looking pretty fluffy and ready to go.

Question I want to ask. If I were to say, recreate the Lamona or a different breed, would you still consider it the real deal, just a different strain, or would you think of it as simply a recreation and not the actually breed. A fake so to speak?

Every breed was originally "created" from other breeds..even the heritage ones. So I would not consider it a fake if you get it to breed true and it is a good recreation of the breed you're trying to create.

Many well known hatcheries have a few heritage breeds. If you want to find them just google search them and there are many sites for them to buy and sell.
