I see the brick this is a perfect example of the brick showing up in a young Heritage Rhode Island Red male. You will not see this in a produciton red. Just classic. I may take this picture to Wall Mart and get it develped to a 5x7 and frame it. Then when I see these producitons chickens and get chest pains I can look at your picture and get back to normal. I got a phone call a few minutes ago from a lady from Texas who wants the old fashion Barred Rocks. I told her you may be able to ship her some eggs this spring. Thanks for the picture. bob

Scott, I am so sorry about that bird- does it remind you anything at all of the dwarf Del? That is sort of how I would have described mine, too.

I am taking two Buff orpington pullets to the Lebanon IN Show, and this is the other girl. Her pre bathed look.
LiL Sweetness approximately 6 month ole

Here are 4 Buff cockerels I'm taking. Was to be 5 Buff cockerels, but two had to fight, now we're taking 4. But, the 5th will go for the after the show is over for the judge to look at them all and tell me which 2 or 3 he likes. My suspicions are the two who scrapped are numero uno and his second in charge. It's always that way.
The big shot is in the middle. the now not going cockerel is barely visible in the backround. I also cleaned up the bigger pullet to have evaluated after the show too. She is right in front and looks like a cockerel with a mini comb.

The angle of the sun will change the true color of these Buffs, this pic is unedited and no photo enhancing.
The big shot is on the right. He is barely scratched the other cockerel's wattles were about removed from his face.

That is what my dwarf chick looked like. I think there are varying degrees of the syndrome.

I didn't get too mad. I was warned that this would happen. And I should have been down to 2 cockerels. But, the other three aren't too bad. the younger cockerel MAY wind up being the better one for showing. The Big Shot runs the coop from now on. He is the bigger one. But, that is why we're taking them all. I am an open minded person who does listen to others. Eventually!​
