Here's a link to my flickr account and an up-coming cockerel that seems to have a better wing set. It is more in line with his back. Of course a 12-ish week old cockerel is not a finished product. Still, this has given my eyes something to look at, I'm seeing young males coming up with the looks of good as well as some with the looks of poor wing set. The difficulty, of course, is trying to get other good qualities together with the wing-set.

Much better and awesome combs/heads on those young birds.........difficult to get on R/C birds.

Looks like you have lots of cockerels to choose from ! Goodness, they're literally up to the rafters. Obviously they get plenty of exercise for their wings by simply going to roost. Thank goodness my Orps don't go up that high . I'd have to re think the stress loads on my rafters !

I would like to share some photos of my HRIR babies. They were hatched by Ron Ottman (Ronott1) who kindly shared 4 of these lovely birds with me; which I am feeling quite fortunate about. They are San Romain/Ron Fogel bloodlines.

In the past, I did have HRIR, as well as Orpington, and Yokahama chickens, where they added joy to my life, and many lived to be 11-12 yrs. old. Needless to say; I love and adore Heritage breeds, and appreciate all their virtues.

The photos below were taken in my studio under artificial lighting which diluted some of their beautiful coloring such as their feet. In person, their feet are corn-yellow : ) They will be confined for a while, and will post more photos when they are able to free range.

Dear Ron (Ronott 1), thank you very much for these gorgeous birds. Finally, after a year long search, I have my own Heritage Rhode Island Reds.

YH, those are good looking birds.

At first I regretted asking the question, but maybe it was not a bad question to ask.

I still think the description is not clear like it is with the New Hampshires, Reds, Orpingtons, Old English Games, and others. I am gathering where the description is not specific the wings should follow the slope of the back.

Nice Fav's. They're definitely a good beginning!

Nice RIR's. Now, I'm assuming that the unevenness of color in them is due to juvenile plumage. I've never grown out RIRs of this caliber to recognize their plumage at this stage.
