Not to go off subject but.
ChickenPotPie,
What color Argenté are you waiting for? I used to raise Champagne Argenté and still see a lot of them here in Ohio...

Pictures don't tell everything, so I just go by what I see. The comb should follow the head and the wing carriage needs to be up. Can't comment on color since all these monitors show color a different way.

ChickenPotPie,

I agree with fowlman01 and that it is hard to tell by a picture is a bird is good or not...
The comb should follow the head and the wing carriage needs to be pulled up and from what I can see he might need work on wing color.
I would like to see more length of back and a little less "V" shape. A rooster should have a good brick shape.
Like I said it is hard to tell by a picture.
Maybe Bob will comment on your bird and correct me if I'm wrong on anything..

Argente Bruns (brown). Their are some up in Canada and I planned on driving from CA to MN for the ARBA Convention in November to get them but breeder had all bucks this year and only one doe.

She knows of no other Brun breeders who are going to Convention.

I've put my hands on Argents and they are amazing meat animals (I took a mini class on the Champagne De Argente at the West Coast Classic's judge's conference in Monterey, CA). I can't wait to get some but I really want the Bruns. The judge that taught the Argente class said he has heard much talk of the Bruns very recently.

The updates I get from the breeder are very promising. 4lbs at 7 weeks. Plus, the type is good.

Not bad for an unrecognized breed. I'm sure someone must already hold a COD from the ARBA for them but I'd like to know who that is. I'd like to follow their progress.

Back OT:

Walt, what does "follow the head" mean? The back end of his comb is, urm, missing if that helps any. And his wings should be more horizontal rather than vertical? Just trying to gain a visual since I don't have my eye for poultry yet. Thank you for your time.

ETA: Ah, thanks, Chris.

On your bird, see how the back of the comb doesn't curve with the shape of the head.
The comb should follow the shape of the head.

If you go back to post 78 and look at that Red and see how the comb "flows" around the head you can also see it in post 68 of mine..

Correct. The bottom of the wing should be just as horizontal as his back..
