The following chapters are divided into the various classes of poultry with a discussion of each breed in that class included in the Standard by the time of this book's original publication. It goes over each breed meticulously, offering ideas for pairings and faults about which one should be aware on account of the breeding tendencies in each breed current at the time publication.
One of the better aspects of this text is that it really a compendium of the knowledge of the day. In the introduction, there is a long list of names mentioned as sources who had contributed information about the breeds. Therein are some of the greats of the day. There is a total of 81 breeders listed as information contributors.
Rocks and Reds are discussed in great detail as are Dorkings and La Fleche and everything in between!
It would make a great reference tool for the group as a whole, indeed, it could be used as a springboard for conversation.
