On December 3, 1926, a quartet of salesgirls from the Rhodes Brothers department store departed from their usual duties to pose with four of the prize winning chickens from the 29th Annual Tacoma Poultry Show. The girls are, left to right, Isabel Kearns with a Rhode Island Red Cockerel, Irene (Iva) Ratcliffe with a Buff Orpington Cockerel, Evangeline (Vangie) Harrod with a white Wyandotte hen and Grace Rutchoe (identified as Grace Moore in same paper) with a Buff Plymouth pullet. The photographs from this publicity stunt were to be shown around the country to promote Tacoma. The 29th Annual Tacoma Poulty Show was held at South 10th Street and A from November 31st through December 5th. (TNT 12/5/1926, pg. G-8; group picture pg. G-3; TDL 12/5/1926, pg. Well I did it. Got to go into my computer and look for some old pictures of Waterfowl. If you have any old pictures please post them or post your pictures of your ducks or geese.

Hopefully we wont get any feed store pictured birds. But it might happen. I saw four geese on a pond yesterday. Two Emdens and two Tolouse classic production birds. They looked nice but not true to breed.

Heard on the phone a few miniutes ago a breeder up north lost some of his birds to the cold the heater broke down and the froze to death. I think games bantams.

This is also the time a year that fires get started up north and you can loose all your birds. This happen to Dr. Patterson many years ago with his Wyandotte Bantams.

Is there anyone who has Jersey Giants worth a hoot any more.

Remember Goldey from Kansas the Queen of Jersey Giants. Does her blood line run any where in the USA ?

I too am looking for Jersey Giants. I have some hatching eggs ordered from Echoinghills here on BYC for 4H project birds. Ivywoods has them but she said her's were not up to standards so suggested I keep looking. So nice to have honest folks still out there that are willing to lose a sale to do the right thing. Wynette has JG but her's are Bues & Splashes (I think). I am looking for standard Blacks. Wynette I bet are nice birds.

Duane Urch also has good Black and White Giants. Robert Vaughn has great Blacks and will know who has Whites.
