heritagehabitatfarms http://www.heritagehabitatfarms.com

Both are in Arkansas.

Thanks for the info.
I have been following the thread for sometime and have learned alot.
I am at least the fourth generation of my family to raise chicken for eggs and meat and cant really remember a time that we have not had chickens.
Although we have always had them we almost always got our stock (even my grandparents back to the late sixtys and seventys) from mail order hatcherys. We also never really networked with other chicken owners so I did not realize until the last few years what I had been missing. I have however noticed that the birds that I have been getting from the same hatcherys as they were are no longer true to the old school types. Thanks again.

I found on another site a post by a person who shipped hatching eggs by the post office this week and told the post office he wanted to purchase special handling. She said there is no such service for shipping two day priority mail such as hatching eggs. The shipper showed this regulation the postal worker said you are right and charged the shipper $7.50 extra for special handling on that shipment of eggs. If you are purchasing eggs from a breeder or shipping eggs to a person print out this regulation and take it to the post office. I think this would be worth the cost for such a shipment of eggs. On the whole most eggs shipped hatch around 10 to 15%average and maybe with this special service there will be less ruptured air cells and more chicks hatched. This could be a major breakthrough in shipping hatching eggs for those brave enough to try. I do not know when this special handling regulation was introduced but when I tried for three years to get hatching eggs placed in the compartment with live birds I was talking to deaf ears. If you use this service let us know what the results are. bob

I have got to get a new camera. Unfortunately, mine croaked, and all the ones that I think I want are a little pricey. So save I must. I just got some white rock eggs that came from birds that Bob raised, so I am very egg-cited to get these in the incubator.

The picture above is a seven year old hen that produced some of these birds a year ago. Also, this is her son from three years ago. All are gone to chicken heaven but their genes are going thought Anthony and your future chicks line. bob

This a black and white picture of a breeding pen from 15 years ago of a cock bird and old hens.

These are the breeders that Anthony raised this year. taken when they where about six months of age. Notice the old style look compared to the picture of 15 years ago. This look is the old Bill Halbach look from the 1950s which this line came from many years ago.
