I have been following the thread for sometime and have learned alot.
I am at least the fourth generation of my family to raise chicken for eggs and meat and cant really remember a time that we have not had chickens.
Although we have always had them we almost always got our stock (even my grandparents back to the late sixtys and seventys) from mail order hatcherys. We also never really networked with other chicken owners so I did not realize until the last few years what I had been missing. I have however noticed that the birds that I have been getting from the same hatcherys as they were are no longer true to the old school types. Thanks again.
