I got my response from Randy in Oklahoma, Subject was "Your Hollands" .....Jennifer, Great the birds are yours. Congrats by the way this is the largest flock of Barred Hollands in north america.

Somehow, I got lucky with her... unless its a coloring book... everything is safe from crayons/markers! She's very adamant about chicken things.. and when I told her this was a very special book that'll help Mommy make sure our chickens are evaluated and bred with the right ideal in mind.. her eyes got wide, and she treated it like a very fragile eggs

She is always first to point out pinched tails, shallow underlines and 1x4 birds (narrow bodied)

Priceless

and my 7yo son is not far behind either

We call her our Chicken Princess

The flock in Oklahoma is an ideal flock, Mr. Urch's are supposed to be SOP quality. However, I am awaiting an answer from him now if he will hold them for me until next Monday, I will drive up to get them. It will take several years to get them up to the standard, but I already have the other stock I need to get started.

Maybe Duane would hatch and raise you some Barred Hollands for a small extra fee. Would he sell you some breeders? Just a trio of his breeders would improve what you have several generations!

Yep, the whole flock. 22 young hens and 5 roosters.

I volunteered to be her co-driver! 5 hour drive there + 1 hour loading + 5 hour drive back = at least 11 hours of talking chicken! Guess I better pack my SOP and laptop!
