You could contact Frank Reese Jr. or Danny Williamson. They own and operate Good Shepard Poultry Ranch. I believe they run about 3000 hens over winter plus around 450 cock birds. They free range all of their birds and they are true standard bred birds. They may be able to supply the numbers.

Good luck with the birds

Just be certain to clarify you want LIVE birds. The birds they sell from their website are not very ... lively!

Just gave them a call. They do not let their genetics get out but will be an invaluable resource for setting up experiments.

Danny I think. Cell phones garbled name exchange and other parts of conversation. No need for birds this go around, just sound and experience based advice.

Hello Punky and everyone else. Been busy as a "One legged dog in a behind kickin contest".

The weather has been goofy here. It was 103 yesterday and is 58 rite now. Winter is finally over I think.

My kids own a greenhouse and between helping there, hatching birds, and work it has been, well lets just say interesting. I am starting to know what Walt means when he tells me that he has never been as busy as he is now and he is retired.

The Light Brahma have been a real challenge this year in getting birds out. Have a lot of Dark Brahma out.

Picking up a small flock of 20 RC Rhode Islands on Friday. So much for cutting back on the birds. Are you smiling yet Walt? Hello Walt, been busy? Don says hello too.

Have been keeping up with the thread and will post as time permits.

Good luck with the birds
Charlie

What a deal.......you sell me some nice Dominique eggs & you can use that egg money to buy hatching eggs for another breed from a breeder you chose......LOL

Where are you & do you have an incubator or know someone that can hatch for you? I have had some really bad luck with shiped eggs but have also had some nice hatches too. I believe the less distance they travel the better chance they have normally. I am in California & the eggs I got from Washington did much better than eggs from way far away.
If you are close to me I have some really nice Australorps from Bruce Sherman that are laying right now & could try sending you eggs to get you started. If you start now by the time you get your coops done your birds will already be started. When they are small they are easy to house without much room or equiptment. It's when they grow out that you need alot more room.....LOL
