The way I heard it was that Ashbrook had them developed to a strong quality, but that Overton took them over. The gentleman telling me the tale implied that perhaps they had not faired as well under Overton's care. I cannot say, though, because I've not seen them myself.
Wow! I didn't see this.

I have known both of these gentleman for over 30 years and if there was any improvement to the Sussex, it was done by Gary Overton. There are some people that will say all kinds of things, but that does not make those statements true. It is only true if it is posted on BYC and it only remains true until someone rebuts it.
there is a lot of mis-information online.

I agree Walt...Gary has had some of, if not the best Speckled Sussex in the country for many years. Yellow House, I think you recieved some misinformation and I would definately let your source know that they were wrong.
This is a classic case of how the internet can at times be a curse more so than a blessing.

Would that be the Rev Rohmig Bob?

Walt
rev roland romig? hes my helpful chicken man..he writes the sunshine corner in poultry press. matt is right, ive been a victem of mis-information myself.rev romig is an all around good poultry judge, he prides himself in the waterfowl department..but can work a lot of different venues..specialising waterfowl.

The Chicks went out for their first walk about today. The air was cool, in the high 40's, but the sun is warming things up nicely. Should be around 67 today. Their behaviors are so very different than hatchery chicks of the same age. So much more assured, confident and curious. Interesting.
