I don't think that is too bad, but I don't count on my birds for food either. Do they taper off and lay even less after they are two?

No, that's not horribly bad, for Plymouth Rocks were once known for fantastic layability. The pullets seem to lay just as well as the 2-year olds, and then at 3 they seem to begin to taper off. I do have some 5 year olds that gave me eggs this year, though not nearly as many, of course.
