Bob White Quail chicks LOUD!NOW with PICS and VIDS!!

I say whenever doing a hatch just cause cple are dry dont take em out keep em in there for 24 hours then take them all out at once. so i say leave em in there for a day

I will wait until they're dry and fluffy, then wait until no one is trying to actually zip before taking out the oldest ones. But I also don't end the hatch until I've had at least 2, usually 3 days without activity.

My cockers would probably grab the quail (i did after all in the first place get quail hatching eggs to train them on--on DEAD birds...). Butnow it's become more of a genetic love thing for me

I'll still be training my dogs on a dead one when I pick out a poor adult that wont be good for reproducing. My golden mix would probably pounce a poor thing. Needless to say i dont let them anywehre near the chicks or the brooder lol. The cats want them....they also are forced to stay away.

I'd happily feed my dogs and cats dead quail but never a live one ofcourse. i did offer my male cocker one, but he just sniffed it (it died after hatching) and looked at me like I was crazy

lol.

My dogs would all agree to eat a quail...chicken or rabbit if I said go ahead...or wasnt supervising.
Never know! and I plan to eat them myself next year...just not these!

2 or three Past the "due" date or past the last hatcher? The majority hatched 2 days early...so I should wait till Sunday?

Not that I am rushing or anything but I wanted to put some EEs in there! Those bators are really addicting. I cant stand it to be empty!

2-3 days of inactivity, so after the last hatcher...

I've found, too, that I can pull out the eggs one by one quickly, and listen to them. You can actually hear a chipping sound if they're trying to pip.

But the room has to be really quiet.

If you put an egg in your hand and wrap your hand completely around the egg and stand still if a chick is alive in tehre you'll litterally feel it moving and picking at the egg

OH and i agree with tree frogs too that's what my husbnd and I said for the longest time but now i think they sound more like crickets to me ha ha
