I had one at my coop run about a week and half to 2 weeks ago. I was getting the mail and I heard the chickens freaking out, I went around the side of my dog pen and there was the sucker, trying to get on top of the run, so I ran in the house and let all the dogs out in the adjoining pen and they spooked the crap out of it. Came back that night and the next day with same results as I left my dogs out knowing it would come back, and it has for now given up!!

I'm one for protecting my flock.

I've had folks tell me I'm going to get into trouble when I tell them I'll try and down any hawk within the perimeters of my yard.

Bobcats are beautiful, I do wish they could be trapped and taken to a wilderness area, but who knows how many more of your flock would have perished had you not taken the action you did. When I put myself in your shoes, I would probably have done the same thing.

Believe it or not all bobcats arent bad and I dont always kill every bobcat or animal I see it usually has to do something in order to get popped here is a pick of my rescue early summer.

this young cat was injured I caught it raised it as wild as I could prepared it for the out doors then re released it into the Gypsum hills of watonga. Death isnt always the solution for me it just depends on the situation. Funny thing is I did notice in 5 days now the GH owls have not been in there barn they have been there for weeks now there just gone wonder if the kitty moved them out of the barn?

Beautiful!

I know some people keep them as companions. I've seen them for sale at exotic vet expos and have gotten to pet them. It was fun getting my hands head-bumped and enjoy their deep, rusty purrs.

Personally though, I'd rather stick with house cats! That's something you take as a roomate, not a pet!

We got this one in March of 09. We let the birds out about 11 am and by 12 30 pm it had gotten my hen turkey. Matt you are right about the tracks that is how my Hubby knew it was a cat. We set up a trap and caught her that night coming back for leftovers.

I should have you come take care of some coyotes that have been trying to dig their way into my run. I've done a lot of digging, strategically placing rocks, burrying them and then putting more rocks around and they are still trying to dig in!!! BTW that bobcat was a beauty!! Too bad he was a nuisance!!
