Body Hatching

So I've been doing this with a serama egg. I started to get really prominent, healthy veining in it, but after I candled today, I think the egg is quiting.

The veining is lighter today, and looks like it receded some. Out of the three eggs I had, that one was the only fertile egg. Sucks so bad! I'll give it a few more days, and see if it gets some more life back in it.

That sucks. Will you try again?

not going so well- no development and cracked one egg by accident
Oh no.

I've been thinking of doing another hatch to try and get this little one a buddy. He doesn't seem to like being alone, which is cute but it makes it hard to get things done. Was cleaning the house the other day and he kept calling out every time he couldn't see me, till i made noises or came to peek over the edge of his box and look at him. Was hard to get things done. Had to hold him in one hand while i vacuumed and watered the plants.

My parents say they have a broody coturnix that's managed to hide her eggs from them. I've been thinking of stealing one off her closer to hatching..

Perhaps when my coturnix lays extra eggs I'll try again. So far no success. On the flip side my quails started to lay :)

That was the box. Inside it only had room for two eggs. They both fit in that dip in the middle. I think it came with the pocket watch i bought years ago. Can't remember. But it keeps the heat really well.

interesting way to keep them warm at night :O I now have 1 new egg in my bra now- It's an extra :)

I hatched four in the incubator, put them in a fishtank brooder, and they did the same thing. They would cry for me and I had to sit by them frequently so they would calm down. I would whistle to them and it was calming...so when they would start crying sometimes I could whistle to them while I was doing what I needed to do. To this day, when something spooks them, I can always calm them down by whistling to them!

Did another for fun since I had too many eggs. Surprise surprise! I have development, folks! Here's hoping the two will hatch safely
