As of 5:00 yesterday, we no longer have a bookstore, either.

This was our only one. Very depressing. Yeah, we LOVE the library book sales.

We always go away with a LOT from those.

Sorry , but we think we have the best book store here in Texas. Author Larry McMurty (Lonesome Dove) started it in his hometown of Archer City close to Wichita Falls in northern Texas. It is a block of buildings full of books called Booked Up.Don't go unless you have lots of time as everything is arranged whimsically as they phrase it but books are separated by category in separate buildings.
Now Half Price Books which seem to be spreading around the USA are great too if you can find one near you but they are a distant second.

Great find on that book. Are you keeping it? Too bad about the bookstore closing...it's sad those mom and pop stores closing down. Maybe another bookstore going in? Hope springs eternal...

Wow, what a great find! My son will be so jealous. He has thousands of books, a lot of which he got at the Goodwill store near him. At a dollar a book, he brings bags of them home every week. He used to live in Baltimore which has a free book store that's in a basement. It's always packed with books and people and you can take as many as you like. So much fun on a rainy day!

Yes, I plan to keep it. It is just too cool to get rid of!! Besides, my children would strangle me if I even thought about selling it!!! LOL I wish we would get another bookstore, but right now there aren't any plans for one that I know of.

There are two other stores closing here now, too. A clothing store that has been there since before I was born and an art shop that sells local art.

Oh wow...that free bookstore sound amazing, BearSwampChick!!! My kids would love that (and well, me too). I love the fact that they have such a passion for books. I started it from birth, though. Thankfully, my husband and I both love to read, so it is just a natural for the kids. My brothers kids, too. They tell people "it is Aunt Christy's fault I love to read so much".

We actually have a pretty good book selection at one of our goodwill type stores here. That is another place we get a lot of ours.

I give up!!! I have edited 3 times....any more typos are staying!!! LOL
