Here is Magic. She is from my stud (RIP) and my grump. She is supposed to be my new stock dog but I think she is spoiled because of doing obedience with my daughter in 4H. Guess I will have to get another! Terri O in WI

BCMominMD, you have got to be crazy to have 4. I can't imagine the chaos and activity that goes on in your home!

A border collie adopted us several years ago. He just showed up in our side yard and refused to leave. My husband was pretty persistant in getting him to go, but everything failed. Spirit stayed back from us and we didn't try to approach him for about a week. He just showed up everyday and slept under our pine trees.
He started following me around the farm while I did chores. But always stayed out of reach. When my husband and daughter would get home from work Spirit would growl and wouldn't let them get out of the cars until I went out and told him it was ok. Which is why the hubby was so persistant in trying to scare him off.
I put found ads in the paper. Took pictures of him and posted them all around. No one claimed him. During that time he learned to trust us and we were surprised to find out how well trained he was. Obedience and herd training. I had quite a few goats back then and he would bring them to the barn for me. He never nipped or bit them, he barked and bumped them with his nose. He learned which goats went to which pens and would put them in the pens. I didn't know how to tell him what I wanted, I never had a herding dog before, but he taught me.
That was all years ago. He is an amazing dog with pale blue eyes. He has lost his hearing this past year and anything can walk past him now and he doesn't wake up.

But, he has a home here for the rest of his years.
He hates being inside of the house so he lives in the barn. Whoever let him get away lost a real jewel.
