@KDOGG33 , do you mean PULI? Cute little alligators...
Mary

Nope, new breed apparently. Only accepted a few years ago. Although I think they are related.

A new one on me! Pumi, I had no idea. 'Protective', it says. Maybe like Pulik then?
Mary

Yeah, I had never heard of it until tonight. They are recently accepted but apparently have been around for a while. I think the Puli and the Pumi have the same history, both Hungarian herding breeds, but apparently have been considered separate breeds since the 1920s so not entirely a new breed but new to AKC. I had never heard of them but have been reading tonight after seeing them. I hope the AKC does not ruin them. :(

I put the dog show on to record.

They are adorable but rare. :(

New breed since I showed read a bit but seems to be hate to see it ruined by idiots

Agreed. I saw a GSD on there and was so sad. The thing could barely walk/move and they said the sloped back was normal for the breed so they could cover more ground with less steps or something, more efficiently.... yeah.... no... not THAT sloped.

They did say this particular dog got into a car accident and almost died around 15 months old and they were told he would never walk normally again and now he’s the number 2 dog or some such high ranking... maybe he never did fully recover lol

But personally I think it’s his because they ruined them. The Malinois next to him had a perfectly normal back. I know they are separate breeds but I imagine that is somewhat similar to how the GSD used to look before they ruined them. Normal, straight legs, straight back, pretty tall, etc.

I’ve seen people say that the stacked photos are not necessarily representative of how the dog actually looks and sometimes they can look roached or more sloped than they are and then stand normal when they’re not stacked but he seemed to be sloped even when moving and also appeared to have an odd gait at times.

Sad really.

I hope they don’t ruin them.

And also maybe this is ignorance but what is up the fluffed up puff of fur they do on the old English sheep dogs? Seem every one they fluff up a spot above the hips?

They do look cute in the pictures, and are described as active and protective, so I hope popularity doesn't happen to this breed. Cute fuzzy puppies growing into spoiled little monsters...
Mary

I agree. They kept saying how cute they are and how in the standard it says they are whimsical. They really are an adorable whimsical breed but I know a bunch of idiots are going to start breeding them now. :(

And people will get them not understanding that they are herding dogs and still a working breed that needs a job. Not a poodle or little lap dog. They can be cuddly but still need to work.

And they think they were mixed with terriers way back when so that they have the smarts and biddability of the herding breeds but the liveliness of the terrier.

I hope they do not get ruined.

Personally I think you could go to shelter and get a poodle/terrier mix and probably find a dog that looks the exact same. :lau

They have kid of a mutt look about them despite being a breed for a while haha

AKC ruins everything though so I think joining was a bit of a mistake.

I've met Chessies raised permissively, and it's ugly. Spoiled BIG monsters...
Mary

I imagine that is a disaster!! It’s bad enough with little dogs (people think they are so cute and let them get away with murder) but with big dogs it’s downright dangerous.

Idiots that decide they make cuter if the A to C

Yeah, I think joining was a mistake. And I am sure they will be very popular very soon and totally ruined. :(
