I'm still deciding on what breed I will choose. It's more important because I do keep a pack, and each member needs to fit in correctly.
I've always preferred female dogs. They can be bossy and pushy, but so am I. I make sure I'm the boss of the bunch. I like girl power.
I practice a modified Cesar Milan technique. My dogs are rewarded for good behaviors and addressed for bad behaviors generally with mostly raising my voice a bit, maybe a gruff growl noise, and I stand tall and confident. I use dog body language, I can read it well too and can see troubles brewing.
Some days everyone gets along fine, sometimes there are small discussions I need to address, most days everyone loves each other. Exercising them enough can make every dog a good tired dog. We do pack walks. No leashes or collars. They can be dogs. We own 40 acres in the country, so I can do that.
It can be hard to describe. I just am top dog and I expect my dogs to listen when necessary. I definitely don't use any capital punishment. I control their space and movements at times and that's enough generally. Something as simple as blocking them from bolting out a door can give you power. I'm with my dogs almost always. We have some pretty spoiled dogs that are well cared for.
Of course as puppies I use bits of hot dogs to bribe and train the basics.

As they mature me and my girls start to correct those pushy puppy behaviors. I use my pack to raise each pup. Having multiple dogs for me makes it easier to raise puppies.
It takes me months and sometimes a few years to get dogs to the point where they are good. I raise them like people raise children. Every day is a teaching day until they understand it. Some get it sooner than others.
Hopefully that all made sense.

My life revolves around my dogs. They are incredible souls.
