Borrowing a roo for his 'services'

Well first off make sure the rooster is quarantined first before you do anything. Next thing I would bring the rooster to the hens. You wouldn't want the hens getting too stressed and then not wanting to lay.
 
When you say 'quarantine,' what do you mean, exactly? Just pen them up away from the other chickens, or ?

The roo belongs to a neighbor.
 
Yes he will need to be in a separate pen for a month before you introduce him to your girls.(on your property but not near your girls) even though he comes form a neighbour you never know what he could have. If you don't quarantine and he does happen to have something you may loose your whole flock.
