I have a 21-22 week old Easter Egger who laid her first egg yesterday!
I was so excited for her blue egg, I’ve been gathering white & tan eggs for a few weeks now, it’s nice to see a color change. But she’s one of the bottom in the pecking order & is being chased away from the coop by the leghorns, they will literally stand on the ramp so nobody can get through. She laid her first egg in the run & it was destroyed
I always make sure to check the coop multiple times a day to gather eggs but she must’ve laid while I wasn't home. They free range from 3pm-7pm during the week & 1pm-7pm on weekends & I REALLY don’t want her to go off somewhere random to lay her beautiful eggs. Is there anything I can do?? We’re going to be turning the old duck run into a coop before winter hits which will have more space than this one. I won this coop+run for $107 from an auction on eBay. It’s getting a little tight for 13 bodies, & now I’ve got 6 layers. I’ve added a picture of the run-to-coop set up.
