Stay away from the straight run and get pullets. At least with pullets there is about a 90% chance they are female.

Gosh, in that picture of them together, all 4 look like cockerels to me. Maybe someone that's better at this game than I am will have a different opinion.

EE can look like anything, as they are mixed breeds and not purebred. Some people refer to them as mutts and they will not breed true. Still a pretty neat bird, IMO.

Definitely male. See all those long thin saddle feathers hanging down in front of his tail? Pullets and hens don't have those. Same at the hackle (neck) but those are often harder to tell apart until later.
