Bourbon Red Turkeys===I'm trying again**DISASTER HIT**

I hatched out a Red Bourbon/Black Spanish 2 weeks ago and that little bugger is growing fast. Here's what I did, I got 2 eggs from the feed store for free, laid by some hens that were sold to them to resell. One was a dud, oh and this was only my second time trying to hatch birds, the first time was chickens and all failed. I only turned my egg once in the morning and once before bed, every 12 hrs. When it came time to hatch I was in and out of the bator because it looked to me like he was having a very hard time moving and that he was too big for the egg. At one point he was trying to turn around for over 5 hrs and couldn't. All the blood veins were absorbed so I took the top off and put him back. As soon as it was off he pushed himself out and I could then see that he was too big for his shell. A few hrs after he dried out I had to take him out of the bator because he was too hot and started panting. He's now a great little bird that follows me everywhere and wants to sit on my shoulder all the time.

I am so glad I did not get those turkeys. At this point I am an outlaw. It would be impossible to hade turkeys on my roof. Thanks for the info CK

Now that is cute. My 2 from the disaster hatch are growing nicely. I had to put them outside as they outgrew the brooder. They have no clue what to do. They watch the chickens in the next pen to see what to do. I haven't seen any struting yet. I thought I had a tom and hen. But according to steve at sands I may have 2 hens as the feathers have white outline. Then again they might still be too young and I'm on crack..
