bout how much does one sell a dozen farm fresh eggs?

$3 for a dozen is the price around here from those small local farms or BYC owners

farm fresh ? there's no way to confirm this

unless they are from your chickens

for our own eggs.. i'll either give them way or eat them ourselves

my 5 chickens are free ranging all day now + non-gmo, organic feed

No one is forcing people to buy them at that price, so it's not extortion...

Price will vary by location just like many other things, you simply can't compare prices in a highly rural low cost of living area to an extremely high cost of living urban area, it's truly two different worlds...

Yup, around here people are happy to pay $7-8 a dozen for organic eggs from a local family farm. The place I buy from sells out very quickly, sometimes within hours after opening their stall. Even the "regular" supermarket eggs cost about $2 a dozen. Higher prices are just the norm in certain areas.

ITS SO SAD TO HEAR OF SUCH BIG TAXES ON MOSTLY YOUNG POOR PEOPLE. MAKES OTHERS WANT TO MOVE TO PLACES LIKE TEXAS OR ALASKA.. LIVE AND BREATH FREEDOM AGAIN. NO RULES OR REGUALATIONS TO ADD TO COST. COMMON SENSE AND FUN OUT IN GOD'S COUNTRY SEEMS LIKE A GOOD PLACE TO SCRAMBLE SOME EGGS...

It's not that one sided, the reason people in higher cost of living areas can afford those higher priced houses and properties as well as other things is because they generally earn A LOT more and good paying jobs are much more plentiful than in low cost of living areas... Many of the people who live and work in higher cost of living areas go on to retire in lower cost of living areas and live quite well...

I'm in Portland, OR, fairly close to downtown. I've noticed three different prices.

In a feed/hardware store that is a few miles out of town; $4/dozen.
In the local market in my neighborhood; $6/dozen.
In the grocery store; $8/dozen!

Typically I make a point to stop in and get the $4 dozen, but if I'm low and won't be leaving town, I'll occasionally pay the $6/dozen.

I sell free range eggs for $2 per dozen. My local Price Chopper sells them for $4.50 per dozen.
I sell a lot of eggs.

I know but I sell mostly to co-workers and good friends. They all bring me egg cartons, too!
That adds up when each carton costs .50 at Tractor Supply.
I also sell pastured pork products to them and they've been good to us.
Hey, it pays for the feed, shavings and any meds they may need.
All monies collected from egg sales go into my blue mason jar until needed.

I started thinking we'd sell ours for 2.50 or 2.75/dozen with discount for cartons returned to be filled & discount for returning customers. However as time went on, now we have chickens..
we will charge 4$ a dozen
2$ for half
18 eggs for 5$
I will NEVER have to buy cartons (been collecting them from folks for 5 years now), just buy our own labels to slap on cartons before folks pick them up.

When we got out first batch of layers started laying, so many friends came to us and wanted eggs, we charged $3/dozen with their own egg cartons. Within a month we raised our price to $4 and kept it that way for almost 3 yrs now. We have not yet gave away any free eggs since we sold them a week in advance, we wish we can give away some but demand is high. We charge ourselves same amount for our personal consumption of eggs.
