Boy guineas? Girls?

My father is planning on getting a flock o' guineas this summer in VA. We were wondering about the gender ratio. Is straight run okay for a flock of 12? or is it like ducks where you have to have one male to a bunch of girls?

They come only straight run. So the chances are 50/50 the more you get the closer to 50/50 you get. Guineas are not like other fowl. They pair off, and usually mate for life. But I dont belive they grieve if one is lost they just hook up with another mate. If you wind up with more cocks than hens the cocks will just hang with each other. My last flock of seven were all cocks. What a bunch of goofballs....
