Brahma Bantams

Is it true that bantam Brahmas, if a roo will tend to feather in more slowly than a pullet? I have a buff and a light. They are only about 6 days old but the buff is already getting wing feathers where as the light is not.

Here are my two Couldn't tell which one was the male at this age, they were not ready to go outside yet at that point.

In researching them I read that in a couple places.just wanted to see if anyone else had that experience.

Did you mean just brahmas in general? I know with some breeds such as Cochin and Cornish the roosters are slow feathering compared to the hens

How fast or slow they feather has nothing to do with gender in a full bred chicken. Individuals will develop how they will. Just like in people.

The only breeds that you can tell the gender by the feathering are specifically bred hybrids. You can't tell Cornish or Cochins by their feathering.

I’ve noticed pullets feather in faster than cockerels. But I’d go more by comb development to determine gender.
