I bought two auctions at the show. The male and largest female were from Bob and the two pullets were from Spence. I will have to check them and see if they have the wing bands on them. I dont remember seeing any but I wasnt looking either. I know where Saint Jo is. I live in Cedar Park, northside of Austin. Originally from Hico though. Thanks for the comment about the coaching. Its a great job to have an impact on young men and women but it has its difficulties like anything else does. This is my 14th year of coaching football. Some good years, some bad years and some great years.

Feeding LF Brahma chicks - what does everyone feed their chicks? I was told they have a higher protien requirement than a lot of breeds. We have been doing chick starter with scrambled eggs. Any suggestions, recommendations?

I've been admiring dark brahmas for quite a while - can anyone here tell me where I might find hatching eggs, chicks or started birds? Other than hatcheries, I mean...

Well my lovely self blue girls have finally come into lay, beautiful creamy coloured small eggs. Wow, they taste good. No point in keeping them as a fox took my gently and dopey brahma roo in December. I'm hoping I can pick them up a man shortly.

well, I'm contemplating getting some dark brahmas..and would like to know a few things, I don't think I can read 132 pages, so I will just ask on the end of this thread.

I quite love the look of the dark brahma hens, I love SLW's and these are just as neat in their lacing patterns.

I have heard they are slow to mature, what generally is their average age when they start laying?
Are the roosters just as talkative as other breeds, more so, or less ??

and why do you who own them love them and breed them?

We have Darks - I have had both Hatchery and Show Quality (now we only have SQ) and they are my favorite. Sweet, Quiet, Lay well. They are the best. We should have some eggs for sale soon.
